VOLUNTEER!
-No experience necessary...desire & commitment is!-

KDUP will be accepting applications* for volunteer programmers starting the second week of July.

WHAT WE NEED: People of all stripes that can commit slices of their time to handle many of the various duties and chores it takes to run a community radio station:

Programmers- For now, we aren't looking for folks to bring in an armload of their favorite cd's and wow us all with the best in Afro-Cuban-Techno-Pop.  We are concentrating our resources in issues development.

We do need people who are interested in learning basic broadcast skills, which will include speaking on-air, recording and producing announcements and 'spots', as well as keeping logs and a little housekeeping.

News: Cub Reporters-  We need news-minded folks who can gather information on "what's happening now".  From monitoring fire & emergency calls to cattle drives, we need local people to both phone in reports from the scene for later airing and eventually be able to jump in and air 'breaking news'.

Applicants to these positons will need to commit to common journalistic standards and ethics.

Issues: Moderators- We need topically knowledgable folks who can produce and host KDUP's "Sunday Talkies" program, which will be a 1 or 2 hour weekly moderated show with guests answering questions by the show host and call-ins from the public.

Applicants to these positions will need book each week's guest(s) according to guidlines and be well researched/prepared on the topics.

SPANISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMMERS: We will be airing daily segments of "Radio Bilingue's Noticiero Latino", a Spanish-language news program for our Latin-influenced(!) community members.  We need bi/multi-lingual volunteers to help with this.

"VALLEY MATTERS"
Hosts/Host Teams
Most 'matters'  segments will be 3-5 minutes in length, produced by one or more hosts, or "Matters Teams".  We needs folks who care deeply about these issues as they relate to Surprise Valley and the region. Host/host teams must be very knowledgable and current on the topics.  Segments will air 3x each weekday.  The mission is to inform and educate, with the result of building grassroots coalitions to serve our community and advance a common cause.

-INCOME OPPORTUNITIES-
SALES- KDUP will survive only by selling "underwriting" (advertising) to the business community at large.  Local, regional, and national businesses need to reach our listeners.  We are the only radio station in the valley.  This is a commission opportunity.
